smtp proxy error V5.001

Each time I try to upgrading my firewall to V5.006 the SMTP proxy would stop passing e-mail to my email server sitting behind it.  In order to get it working again I have to format and reinstall the box.  Has any one had the problem and if so will upgrading to V5.007 or V5.008 fix this problem.

    i have a similar issue with 5.009
    exim refuses to relay mail to my internal mailserver.
    error: relay not permitted

    whats weird though is that as a temp fix  i have set forwarding up for port 25 ext interface to my dmz mailserver address but exim is still active in the smtp.log

    smtp proxy for incoming mail is set for domain name to internal mail server.

    i have tried adding self = local to the exim.conf but still no go.

    help ??? please
