Installation stops at detecting other device.

Hi All,

I am having an issue with installing on my hardware where the process will stop at "Detecting other devices"

I understand that the installer has issues using HDMI thus the monitor was connected using a DisplayPort to VGA adapter.

ISO used was asg-9.351-3.1.iso which installed fine in a VM.

Any suggestions what could be the issue?

Below is the build of my system:

Motherboard: Asus Maximus VIII Gene (Intel I219-V, Z170 Chipset)
CPU: Intel Core i3-6320 @ 3.9 GHz (2 cores, 4 threads)
RAM: 2x Corsair Vengeance LPX 8 GB DDR-2400 | Total 16 GB
NIC: 1x Intel I350T2-V2 (dual port, I350 Ethernet Controller)
1x Intel I350T4-V2 (quad port, I350 Ethernet Controller)

Additionally, the on-board NIC was ignored by the installer for having no name apparently but that is not an issue for me.

Thanks

  • I've successfully installed CentOS, OPNsense, and pfSense.  I guess I'm back to using pfSense as my firewall.  I'm not terribly happy about that, but I can't figure out how to get past this issue in the Sophos install.  I tried an older version I had (still version 9), and it locked up very early in the install process.  I'll have to watch for newer versions of Sophos and see if I can get them installed.

  • I don't know how I missed the home license of Sophos XG the first time I looked, but I found it when I searched again, and that one worked.  I'm not happy about the 6GB RAM limit (my new box has 16GB), but I'm happy to be playing with this new firewall.
