Will this prebuilt device suit a new home build?

Hi All,

I've been looking for a low power but capable system to protect a bunch of devices, 2 ipads, 2 phones, 1 DMZ (OMV NAS), 2 computers, and soon IP cameras.

Current internet is 36Mbps down/1.5Mbps up, but would build and scope a box for expansion and upgrade. I would look to turn all features on inc IPS/IDS.

Being based in Australia, we are a little limited on the hardware, and I came across this box and wondered whether it would suit OK, comes in around $450 AUD.

Notably, I understand to avoid Realtek and only use Intel NIC which this box has. Also box is scoped with an i3 haswell (4010U) and we can upgrade to a 128GB SSD. Its CPU passmark is around 2441.

  • Thanks CS. Good to see that sheet. I suspect if I plan for the 50 users, then its a good point as this is the limitation of the software limit I believe.

I read that there is an issue with doing the installations whilst using HDMI due to some certificate or security issue, and many users have to use a VGA connection. The box above doesnt come with anything other than HDMI.
Is this likely to impact the ability to get the software installed on there, and what are the workarounds for this that would be possible on this box?
