Syncing 2 UTMs

I have a SG105 running 9.315-2.  It works well except for the limited 2 Gb of RAM which makes for excessive memory swapping.  I built a Home Edition UTM but it is running 9.314-13 (latest download).  I would like to use a backup from my SG105 to update the configuration of my Home Edition (so that they are both in sync), but my SG backups jumped from 9.308 to 9.315 (skipping 9.314).

I am assuming that I cannot use my current 9.315 backup to update my Home Edition UTM (because it would be backing up and configuring an earlier version).  I am totally unfamiliar with updating the Home Edition.

(1) Will Up2Date bring my Home Edition up to 9.315-2?  Then I can use my SG backup straight forwardly.

(2) How else would I get my 2 UTMs in sync?

    Correct.  You can install an older config-backup onto a newer version, but not the other way around.

    Kind of, but there's also a good chance that the NIC order will get jumbled around, since the number and kind of NICs will be different.

    How else would I get my 2 UTMs in sync?
    The above is the best way in your situation.  I've created configs using a VM deployment to put into an appliance, when I haven't had the appliance available yet.  You need to be certain that the VM has the same number of network ports and expect to have to move some interface bindings around afterwards.

    If I have both UTMs up on the network (with different LAN IPs but only one having a WAN cable attached), then with 2 browser windows open I could (painfully) walk through the WebAdmin and manually transfer the relevant data from one (filled) UTM to the other (empty) one.

    Will not having a WAN cable attached to one of the UTM be problematic?  Might it matter which UTM (filled or empty) had the WAN attachment?

    The alternative is to use some web site clone software (e.g. SiteSucker for OS X) that will dump all the pages of the (filled) WebAdmin into a cloned web site.  Then use the cloned web site again with 2 browser windows to transfer the data to the empty UTM.

    In either case there would be the haunting feeling that something was missing and not transferred correctly.

    Might there be a more clever solution?
