New install question

I do not think my motherboard will allow me to use the usb ports during initial installation GA-j1900N-d3v. can I do the initial install fro usb to the Hardrive i will be using on my sophos box on my regular pc? or does the install need to be done on the same machine I will be using? 
I was thinking  go thru the install from usb  on my pc then move the drive to the  sophos machine and finish. 

trying to keep from having to buy a cd/dvd reader

    Needs to be done on the same hardware.  You can't install on one set of hardware then move the drive to different hardware, it would fail, as UTM is not fully plug and play (dynamic detection of hardware changes).
