Hardware for Sophos Home

Hi all,

I´ve been reading many threads the last days. I´m trying to decide which hardware solution to choose for a Home UTM. I have a small home network with 3-4 PCs, iPads, smartphones and an AppleTV. My internet connection is 25/10 Mbps.
The two setups I´m considering are:
Iwill SlimBox II Intel Celeron 1037U, 2 x Intel NIC.
or a system based around a Gigabyte GA-J1900N-D3V motherboard.
What do you think would be the best solution?

cannot recommend the gigabyte board due to the realtek nics. cannot recommend the other due to the intel nics it uses as they ahve a driver bug that is not going to get fixed by intel. if i had to go lesser of two evils though it's the gigabyte board. you will have issues with the intels in that one box and with your low bandwidth needs the realteks hopefully won't cause you any issues..[:)]

Thank you for the info 😀 I did not know about the problems with the Intel NIC. The box looked like a perfect unit for a small UTM build, cheap, fanless, OK performance and Intel NIC.

Do you know of any other barebone unit or mini-ITX motherboards that would work better for my home UTM?
