Replacing a NIC, need to keep same MAC

I have a failing nic on my wan interface.  I'm going to be replacing it this weekend.  However, I need to keep the same mac address or else my ISP is going to assign me a new ipv6 prefix and I'm going to have a very bad weekend.  (A big-mac attack).

I'm thinking that when I install the new nic, I can edit the 70-persistent-net.rules file and change the mac address of the new nic back to the old nic's mac address, then reboot sophos.

Is this correct?
