9.350-010 Soft-Released

General Information
This is a mini feature release, containing new or expanded capabilities for existing features. It is not a maintenance release, so only minimal fixes are included, as necessary for updated features.  

Wireless Mesh support is now extended to AP15, AP55, AP55c, AP100, AP100c, and AP100x. 
Support is now available for the new RED 15 hardware device
The Application control engine is updated to provide better recognition of known applications.

  • 34890 REDs disconnected when connecting more than 270 concurrent RED tunnels

    Anybody know how this will affect naming of the old 9.317 firmware coming?
    This seems like a big number jump for such a small fix.

    Hi Mark,
    9.35 is a mini feature release. It's too bis for a maintenance release but too small to be 9.4.
    So for some time, there will be parallel updates for 9.31x and 9.35x. There will be a 9.317 which will then of course have a update path to 9.35.

    Since I am a youngster here...I only remember similar situation with 9.2 -> 9.3 version upgrade. 
    Was that the first time in Astaro/Sophos history to support and develop two firmware versions separately?

    9.350 is like 9.315 with some new features.

    So before upgrading to 9.350 just wait, which upgrade path will be faster (9.316/9.317 or 9.351/9.352) and wich path meets your requirements on fixes.

    Nope, that already happened with 9.1 -> 9.2, 9.0 -> 9.1 and so on in earlier times. 
    The only difference here is that the version is 9.35x instead of 9.4xx which is explained in the KBA linked above. And since it's a small feature release, there is no Beta just the current staging phase.

    This is a paralell track once again.  The last time Sophos did this it was a nightmare.  Now with some fixes going to be in one track and others only in another track that means eventually they will merge back.  For some reason Sophos continually does things like this when they have a proven record if this going badly.  instead of making it a feature release adding things just roll it into 9.4.  Features can always wait.  Good high-quality fixes and stability improvements cannot.

    I downloaded it from the ftp and the install fails.  I have tried several times along with rebooting my sg230.  No luck!  Trying to setup some new RED 15 devices and I cannot do anything until this version is on the UTM.

    What does "Update AppCtrl engine" mean? Is this update useful if I do not have any AP's deployed or should I ignore it until the next update? 

    I have it installed on my home UTM (no APs) and it is running fine. 

    I have not installed it on the UTM 120 in a friend's office yet. We have an AP-10 still in the box for the office, but it is not deployed yet.
