CPU Cores not detected - HP DL 360 G9

Installed 9.3 an upgraded to latest available.  Running 64bit kernel:

3.12.40-0.201737330.g7df7cae.rb1-smp64 #1 SMP Sat Jul 11 12:48:05 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

HP server has 2x6 cores.  Only one gets activated and visible in /proc/cpuinfo

your cpu is a 6 core cpu. if you are only seeing 6 cores that's all that is there. The 12 is the hyper-threading. 6 of the "cpu's" listed are not actual cpu cores but additional threads which are not actual processors.

There are 2 physical CPUs in the system. Top only shows a single CPU/thread.

Apparently, there is a new chipset driver that has to be compiled into the kernel or loaded dynamically. HP has made a " kISO" available for SLES 11 SP3 that has the correct drivers. No idea which driver is the correct one.

if this is a brand new server yes you are going to have to wait for first the Linux kernel main to get patched then wait for Sophos to get to that version due to hardening and other tweaks they do.  I would run vmware or hyper-v on that machine and run utm inside of a vm.
