Restore issues

Hi Folks,

Apologies I know this has been covered before but in all my searching I've yet to find a satisfactory answer.

As a home license user I have built myself a nice 1u rack mount firewall using an itx motherboard with Celeron J1900 cpu and twin lans and everything runs sweetly.

Initially the system used a WD Enterprise 3.5" sata disc, however I noticed the other day the device was making some unusual noises and a quick smartctl -a confirmed the drive was going bad.

I replaced the drive, using a nice cool / cheap Cruicial SSD, re-installed the UTM selecting the same management nic etc. After a basic setup, selecting no options and simply setting the base mgmt IP I restored my backup I'd previously taken.

The result a non accessible system from the web UI.

As part of my setup I'd enabled the 'loginuser' access and using a keyboard/screen on the unit itself managed to logon, proving the restore had in part worked.

Once logged on I started a new 'root' session (sudo -s) and issued an ifconfig to see what was what. The result showed ETH0 was UP but no IP assigned, ETH1 was down. 

At this point I rebooted and found the exact same situation when I again logged on from the console.

This isn't the first time I've run into this 'no network config' when trying to restore a system however in the past I've always put this down to having changed the underlying hardware i.e. NIC's.

What am I doing wrong?

To be clear the _ONLY_ change to the system was the hard drive, the UTM version / NICS / IP's etc where all exactly the same.

My only suspicion is that my use of sub interfaces (VLANS) on my internal network is causing the backup/restore to fail (i.e. revealed a bug). However I only use sub interfaces on ETH0, ETH1 used for my pppoe connection had none.

Config:

ETH0 -> ETH0.10 (Vlan 10) my main network
ETH0 -> ETH0.20 (Vlan 20) iSCSI Network
ETH0 -> ETH0.30 (Vlan 30) DMZ

ETH1 -> PPPoE direct interface
