UPS communication in HYPER-V

Hello:

Has anyone been able to get a UTM, running as a virtual machine in HYPER-V to talk with a APC UPS?

I understand that APC software, running on the host, can selectively shutdown virtual machines, but I would like the UTM session to have full control.
