I3 or modern atom?

Hi,
I have used astaro home utm for a few nears now and want to change the hardware it's on.

I don't need vpn, but do want proxy/content filtering , av, firewall and ids. Our home cable speed is up to 50mbps.

There a 6 devices on the network which could require connectivity at once. Would 2gb of ram with a new atom be enough or do I need an i3?

I just upgraded my UTM yesterday as a matter of fact, with an i3 4150, using a Jetway Intel Dual NIC board and 8GB DDR3 SO-DIMM, 500GB SATA HDD. Absolutely more powerful than the Intel ATOM I had with 4GB.

Doing the comparisons with newer ATOMs, as well as field experience from the Sophos community here, (William, Balf, etc.), I still believe that the i3 is still the way to go now, and I have to agree with Drew on this, spending little money now, eventually will cost you more in the long run.

Cheap, Fast, or Good - Pick two.
