I3 or modern atom?

Hi,
I have used astaro home utm for a few nears now and want to change the hardware it's on.

I don't need vpn, but do want proxy/content filtering , av, firewall and ids. Our home cable speed is up to 50mbps.

There a 6 devices on the network which could require connectivity at once.  Would 2gb of ram with a new atom be enough or do I need an i3?

    Biggest problem I find is finding the compatible CPU a few years down the road. RAM & Disk are standard product with long life spans (I can still easily source DDR2 RAM, DDR is getting harder though.) but CPU's tend to have short shelf lives.

    Example is my Supermicro i7-970 at home. Good luck finding that generation i7 or Xeon anywhere but ebay.

    From my experience, saving $50 up front, usually ends up costing more down the road when sourcing that CPU as it's hard to find and often easier to replace the board with something new.
