I3 or modern atom?

Hi,
I have used astaro home utm for a few nears now and want to change the hardware it's on.

I don't need vpn, but do want proxy/content filtering , av, firewall and ids. Our home cable speed is up to 50mbps.

There a 6 devices on the network which could require connectivity at once.  Would 2gb of ram with a new atom be enough or do I need an i3?

    I also wouldn't think that the difference in the pricetag plus hassle factor of installing a celeron now and later removing the celeron and buying and installing an i3 probably wouldn't pay, unless the cash delta is significant to the OP today.

    For some, building a unit for as cheap as possible is a factor. I do see a lot of people on here going overboard with hardware recommendations. A Haswell Celeron can push 100Mb+ with all services enabled and still not break 40% usage. If down the road the OP get a faster connection he can toss in an i5 (sell the Celeron) and not have to rebuild the entire system. (as he would with a Atom unit) I don't see how it would be a hassle to swap CPUs when it takes 10 minutes max.
