UTM Home Edition at non profit organization?

If they want an appliance, then best to get the hardware through a reseller and pay for the licensing.  However, what I posted above is the Essentials Firewall, which is free and will do for exactly what you posted.

The Essentials edition doesn't fit the requirements because there's no proxy functionallity. It's only for firewalling and IPsec VPN.

A special hardware appliance isn't needed. They have an older PC for hosting the firewall. There are only 3 PCs and a WLAN printer which are connected to the network. So the hardware requirements of the firewall system are relative low.

how old of a pc?  what hardware is in it?  An appliance is really a good way to go because you get hardware supported directly by Sophos.  A good reseller will help get you the right appliance.  Look at the costs for the software vs the appliance and see which way works.

It's an Intel Atom D510 with 1,66 GHz an 4 GB RAM. As an alternative I can use an older Intel Core Duo PC but for power consumption reason I prefer the atom based system. I used this for my network environment before virtualizing the UTM and it worked great.

If there's no option to use the home edition for a non profit organzation I will try to use Endian Communitiy Edition which could be used free for non profit organizations, too. Before using the UTM I tried Endian but it used a lot of CPU still when running in idle mode. But it was a few years ago so I will give Endian a second chance.
