Change hostname of UTM - any foreseeable issues?

Hi,

I have a customer who has an SPX Appliance and a UTM Appliance. We're now going migrate the SPX role to the UTM but would like to alter the UTM hostname to be that of the SPX so it saves us work on changing names on public DNS records, course the SPX appliance will be shutdown at the switch over.

The UTM is used only as a firewall so there is no other services on that UTM that I can think of rely on the hostname.

So my question is can anyone foresee any issues changing the hostname of the UTM?

Thanks in advance

  • See The Zeroeth Rule in Rulz for a tip on how to make the name-change painless and to leave the door open for adding VPN functionality, etc.

  • Thank you for the response.

So if it already had a valid public DNS and we changed it to another valid public DNS name I shouldn't have to realign everything else, etc?
