Upgrading from ASG 320 to SG 330

I've currently got an ASG 320 running 9.309-3. I've got a new SG 330, which - out of the box is running (I believe) 9.308-***.

Will that take the config file from the ASG and import it properly - with it being a version or two behind on updates? Or should I get the SG 330 updated to at least the same version? Or a newer version (there is at least one update pending on the 320)

Any "best practices" for doing the upgrade? 

Has anyone upgraded from a 320 to a 330? Did you notice performance improvements? Our 320 starts to bog down during the day. Nights & weekends (we're a 24x7) when there aren't so many people around, it's not bad.

Lastly - any ideas on repurposing the 320? Can I run the free/unlicensed version for lab/home/etc. use? Or is it a brick?

    John, I've heard rumors (that I doubt, but, nonetheless) that it's possible to do Hot-Standby with a 320 and a 310/330.  Can you get a case started with Support and let us know their response?

    In any case, you will want to partially install the 330 so that you can Up2Date it to 9.309.  If you're not having any problem that might require you to UP2Date the 320 to 9.310, I would wait until you have the 330 up-and-running and then Up2Date it to 9.310.

    I bet you'll see that the SG 330 is a vast improvement over the UTM 320.  The 320 will make a great home machine or with a 10IP license, a great lab machine.  In either case, you will want to rename the /etc/asg file so that you can use a non-appliance license.

    You will probably need another license after importing backup from 320 to SG330 (first login after restore will prompt you for the new license file).

    This is from my experience with moving configuration between different UTM models, it wasn't tested with this particular scenario.

    I've already got the license keys for the new box. Just need to get the serial number from the new box and generate the license files.
    When you rename the /etc/asg can you call it anything, or is there some format /etc/homeuse or /etc/free or ?

    In fact, I should have said "rename or delete" the file as the only important thing is that there is no file named "asg" when loading the software ISO.
