Mini-ITX + dual Intel LAN motherboard

it is a little harder than that, some of the newer MBs while having dual intel NICs, not all intel Nics are supported by the the UTM kernel.
I have an MB that has dual intel NIC.s but only one of them is useable.

The other issue is that MB uses 1155 chips which are getting harder to find.

I'm using the Asus Q87T which is working fine.

Only disadvantage: One of two NICs is a Realtek one...

Why realtek is disvantage??
I use a Intel BOXM 510 with one nic (realtek) and as second nic another realtek pci an all work like a charme.
In my opinion dual or single nic+pci/pcie nic is a good solution for home user, but it depend also which xDSL connection you have and which option you want enable.

realteks are basically software nics(think the winmodem disasters).  they work but as soon as you start putting them under a load they start pounding the cpu and cause problems.  You can use them if you do not have a choice but i would avoid them if possible.

Looking to build a mini-itx box for home use and install the UTM... My main stumbling block is finding a mini-itx motherboard that has dual on board Intel NICS.

The only one I can find so far is the Intel DQ77KB but I cannot find this for sale anywhere (I am in the UK).

Does anyone know of another mini-itx motherboard with dual on-board Intel NICS?

Can you be a bit more specific re the loading, for example
my current system uses realTek's, running in xen vm's and tests 
on my isp 20mb/1mb non fibre show 16-19Mb/1mb.

The cpu with all snorty stuff on (overkill) , all net protection but no email or anti virus running, with 2G assigned in the VM (typically 1,8G used)  cpu  less than 10%.

The utm vm is not used as the primary switch, but does dhcp, ntp , web protection.

In your opinion, can you suggest when regarding isp speed and number of users there may be a problem?

it varies...when folks start having various issues from performance to networking to general crashes it is almost always a non-intel or non-broadcom nic involved.
