Picking a system\build

I have some interesting options for running a UTM for primarily IPS/AV purposes for a Home LAN (1 user) with 50/5 connection. (All or most rules for Win/Linux/Mobile)

Options:

Use my main computer (Filtering it's own connection) , i7-5930K running Win 8 (with VirtualBox or HyperV) running Sophos UTM (Have a 4 NIC PCIe card + mobo NIC)

Use AMD Phenom II X2 N620 HP LAPTOP (DV7-4053CL) 8Gb with working NICs - (Geekbench scores vs i3 in links below)

Would either of these work? I'm thinking about running Windows Server 2012 on the laptop with a VM UTM or just straight as a physical machine (not preferred probably long term)

My concern about using the i7 is that seems like a security and performance risk big time for both. (will be gaming some)

I really need some input on these. I could get a third system but cash is a big concern. The geekbench scores are below, i3's score 2800-3500, my laptop scores 2800.

Sorry for my intrusion but I don't understand why for home user it's "required" an i3/i5/i7.
Actually I run UTM on my Intel Board D510MO (ATOM D510 1.66Ghz 1M cache L2 FANLESS) 4GB RAM DDR2 800, 1 HDD SataIII 250GB, 2 NIC 1Gbps (one on mobo and one pci) and CPU never go CPU over 50% (also if in month hardware report maximum is 89%...but strange non in graph).
Sophos manage 20 IP or more daily.
This hardware work 24/7 since 2010, before with "endian firewall" anbd now with sophos UTM, in mini-itx box fanless and rack temp it's about 32°C (89.6°F)

mainly for power/performance reasons. Modern day i-3's have power envelopes at idle close to atoms. That atom is good for about 50 megabits max depending on what you have turned on and the number of users. with most broadband being over 50 megabits you really need a fast DC celey at 2.7gh or faster or i-3. I do not recommend any quad core cpu's for home users unless they have more than 20 actual active people users on them due to various factors that have been described in detail many times by myself..[:)]
