Home UTM hardware build

Hey guys so I want to make the transition from a vm to a hardware build, so I thought i’ed post what I have listed so far and hope for some recommendations. To start I am the only user on the network with one computer and a gaming system, not currently utilizing wireless, and my internet connection is 30/d, 5/u. I’ed like to spend under $400 but I do have a budget of $500. 

In the vm I am currently using 59% of 2GBs of ram, and on an average using 6% of 1vcpu. I’ed like to have a build capable of handling future additions such as utm features, devices, users, so some of the parts listed are currently overkill for my setup.

Thinking about saving money and choosing a haswell pentium cpu. Also had a bronze or gold certified psu in mind. Not in a rush will continue to do research and definitely appreciates any input.

Currently my cart is at $520.94 + $8 s&h + a $30 rebate

    Before I throw my two cents in regarding hardware, may I ask what Services you'll be running a bit more specifically? E.g. Antivirus, Anti-spam, Web Protection Proxy, etc.

    The three I mentioned can be the difference of using an Atom Processor, which I successfully used for years, and a Xeon E3 / Haswell i7.

    Many on this forum shiver at the thought of Atoms, however, even with Web Protection (Transparent) Enabled, their only Achilles Heel is during single stream (generally http since it has the most checks). For your own edification, I still managed a single stream of 30 Megabit and topped out at 120 Megabit on multiple streams on a D525, and they have since been refreshed, twice. 

    I haven't done a price build in a while, however, I'll throw something together tonight so you can see a potential alternative. More options and information seldom hurts!

    Im currently only using web filtering, intrusion prevention with 1766 rules, antivirus, antispyware, firewall 3 rules, country blocking. Yea I'd love to see what you put together.

    Not currently using but will be integrating wireless, https filtering, and vpn. The fastest internet in my area is 50mbps...

    I run D2550 1.8Ghz Atom CPU with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB SSD, Broadcom nics - total build about $200. I run IPS (~1200 rules), web filtering, AV, Application Firewall, country blocking, a few other. On a single stream I'm able to get about 85-90 mbps, and with dual stream I should be able to saturate my full 110 mbps pipe. And the best part: it idles at about 15 watts, if not less. Has been running rock-solid so far (knock on wood). 

    Why would you need more than that for a home build? Unless you have a 150+ mbps ISP service, probably wouldn't see a whole lot of difference in performance.
