Network Adapter Drivers

Hello,

I am currently trying to get the latest version of the UTM home edition up and running. I have an old Lenovo laptop, which I am using as the hardware. It meets all of the hardware requirements except it does not have the second nic. Due to this I purchased a j5create usb to ethernet adapter. I plugged it in and made sure it worked before starting the UTM setup process. The software installation itself went well, except for the fact that it did not recognize the usb2ethernet adapter. I am assuming that in the installation process, the adapter's drivers were wiped out with everything else initially on the hard drive . I am wondering if it is possible to install the adapter's drivers on the UTM OS. If not, how can I get the UTM to recognize the adapter? Thanks in advance.

    Hi, if you insist on using a USB NIC, I would search these forums to find one that is known to work.

    Otherwise, you could run
    lsusb

    and see what chips the NIC is using, and maybe someone can advise.

    FWIW, my experience with leaving laptops on 24x7 is that they eventually die an early death. I've only got 1 laptop I leave on 24x7, and it's lost 2 hard drives in the last year. It's in a server room, so air temp is maintained around 72F.
