SG210/Home License - Questions about pattern updates

Hello everybody,

I recently purchased a Sophos SG210 with Fullguard bundle and I also installed an custom machine with an ISO available on Sophos for testing purpose.

When looking closer to the firmware and pattern updates, I noticed that the pattern versions between my SG210 and my lab infrastructure are not the same. Firmware are the same.

On SG210:

On Lab:

Two questions:
- Is it normal that both versions are not the same?
- Is it normal that the downloaded pattern version is not installed?

Hi DeltaSM,

Do you have all security features enabled on both appliances?

IPS, Advanced Threat protection, Web protection aso.?

So far, I have nothing configured on both systems.

I'm just began the configuration and I've not enabled web filtering, web protection, email protection, IPS, etc [:)]

Is it why it doesn't apply the updates? Maybe the new releases aren't useful for me at this time and this is why it doesn't install the packages?

For my point of view, it is :-) When you enable all services it downloads patterns for them, when you have them disabled, there are no need to download the patterns. Essential Firewall customers never get pattern updates:-)
