UTM SW to HW migration?

Hello,
i need to migrate a SW install to a HW appliance, but support tells me a backup restore is not supported and that i must do a clean setup(i find it really odd that they don't have a tool/support to move sw to hw as one would mostly start with sw to test and then migrate to an appliance), well, that's not gonna happen because there's a TON of configuration in all modules and specially a lot of SSL clients deployed(which simply CANNOT be reconfigured, period).
I had a ton of problems when i did a SW to SW hw upgrade with those ssl clients in the past, not even importing the certificates worked...

so, have any of you done this?, i know the interface definitions will go whack so i was thinking about reconfiguring them via shell if not one comes up giving me access

    Can SUM be leveraged to import from the SW and deploy to the HW?

    Otherwise I suspect it is possible (though unsupported) to either make use of cc or possibly manipulated backups to achieve something other than a completely manual rebuild.

    I am curious about the problems you had when doing a SW-SW hardware upgrade.
