WLAN chipset used in SG 1xxw models

Hi,

I'm highly interested in building up a hardware box like the SG135w for home use, and found an appropriate motherboard: the Supermicro A1SRi-2558F. My question is if someone knows which WLAN-adapter I have to choose to get it running with 9.3 software? I've heard Sophos is using Atheros-chips in their own appliances, but I do neither know if that is true, nor which chipset exactly. Does anyone know which chipsets are supportet by the 9.3 software to have full WLAN 802.11a/b/g/n/ac support directly in the box like in the SG135w?

    Just like the Sophos APs are not interchangeable with OEM Engenius APs, there's a very high likelihood that even if you got the exact same chipset it wouldn't work due to some customization done to the chips specifically for the SG135W.

    But also see Trollvottel's recent posts (including this week) about problems with the way the wireless systems work with the new appliances.

    Unless you can get a card and a good antenna for a great price, I would just use a Sophos AP, or a consumer router in AP mode.

    many thanks for info! A mini PICe-Card costs only around around USD 50 (see Compex WiFi, WODASIGN Homeplug, networking technology and X-mini eshop,), add an adapter with pigtails and antennas for about half the price (http://www.amazon.com/PCIe-x1-Adapter-Mini-PCI-Express-Wifi-antennas/dp/B004LB714M/ref=sr_1_4) - so this is very cheap compared to the only available 802.11ac AP from Sophos, which is the AP 100 for about USD 700! Let's see...

    first I want to make sure that it will work! As our company is a Sophos-retailer I want to wait for the first customer-order for a SG125w or SG135w to check what is inside ;-)

    I too was scouring the net for this info, here is a link!

    I think this disproves a lot of what people have been saying about Atoms not being powerful enough.

    The sg135 uses the c2558(4 cores) c2758 (8 cores and easier to buy), I have no idea how well it will scales with the extra cores but I doubt it'll hurt.

    But I am a rube to all of this stuff, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
