UTM ESX-I 5.5 and Sky Wireless Router

Hi All,

This is my first post so please be gentle.

I have a ESX box with 3 network cards and a sky home hub.

I was planning to install sophos UTM as a VM, however i'm a little confused on the networking side of things.

Most of the devices I have at home connect via wireless on the sky router, so I'm assuming the if I disable the DHCP  UT will issue IP addresses.

Where does the two nic cabling come into affect?

Do I need to purchase additional kit to make this work?  Ideally I would like to continue to use the DSL modem and wireless router.

Hi,

Ideally, you have a separate modem and router, and then move the router to an internal network or DMZ/guest network.

Where does the two nic cabling come into affect?

The UTM needs an External/WAN connection (normally directly to the modem), and at least one internal connection (to a switch, or a vswitch in ESXi).
