Assigning more than one port on an appliance to the LAN

Hi,

Is it possible to assign more than one port on the Sophos appliances to the internal LAN, or do we need to do something like bridging interfaces?

Thanks.
Andrew.

  • Andrew, you can use a bridge or, depending on your switches, a LAG. The latter can provide redundancy an increased throughput.  What advantage would you expect from a bridge?

    Cheers - Bob

  • Hi Bob,

This appliance will go into a small office in an office block with no cabling, and I want to connect a couple of extra things to the LAN without having to put in a switch if possible.  All other clients are wireless.  Other than the LAN and external interface, the other 6 ports will be unused.  If I have to put in a switch so be it, its just less equipment overall.

    Thanks.
    Andrew.
  • I would agree using a small switch would be a more supportable solution in the long run.
