DVD Drive Needed After Install?

I know they're relatively cheap, but for time and money, would like to avoid buying another; I pulled one from another machine to do the install on the UTM box - now that its up and running, can I remove it without breaking anything (obviously whilst the UTM is powered down)?

Did a quick search, but couldn't find an exact answer to my question.

I know that adding NICs/HDDs requires reinstallation, but I wasn't sure to what extend the DVD drive was or was not plug and play even for the ASG operating system.

I have never used one passed the initial install.

I've installed my UTM with an external USB DVD drive and remove it after sucessfull installation without any issue!!

Thanks for the replies guys - just wanted to check. I shut the UTM box down, pulled the drive, and started it up with no ill effects, as you predicted. Thanks!
