    Sophos updates are very constant, and in many cases it is difficult to get window updates with our customers. All updates always require reboot, is this really necessary?

    I think most updates do, because of the "faults" you get if you don't. I use the Schedule function and do this overnight...off course I have tested the Up2date in my test lab before rolling out [:)]

    I also use the schedule function to apply update and reboot at night in order to minimize the downtime to my users.  Reboots are a necessary evil with most vendor updates so having a scheduled update window each day/week/month is something all admins should have in place.
