Routed Port Vs WAN Ports

Hi All,

It looks a lame question but I am really confused on this. Is there any difference between Routed Ports and WAN ports? Does they make any difference?

Regards,
Rupesh

  • Hi, Rupesh, and welcome to the User BB!

I'm not sure what your question means, but the UTM is a stateful firewall, so if you allow port 80 out to the Internet, the response traffic will be accepted by the connection tracker.

    Cheers - Bob

  • Hi Bob,

    Thank you very much.

We are trying to get UTM with 2 WAN ports and 1 LAN port. As I checked some of the datasheet they seems to have 2 WAN port but still If I have 3-4 ports on UTM which can be used as routed port, is there any different? Using port tagged as WAN by vendor and using port which can be used as routed?

  • Any port can be configured as WAN, LAN, DMZ, etc.  Just labels, no techinical difference between them.
