SG125 vs SG135

Hi Guys,

Having a hard time choosing between a SG125 or a SG135 for a branch office.

Does anyone has any real life experience with any of those 2 models with the following scenario:

Internet Speed : 20MB download / 20MB upload
Number of Users : 40 (light to moderate usage, most of the time maximum of 20 connected at the same time)
All UTM Modules used except  Email, Wireless, Endpoint, WAF
Site to site VPN = 7
Voip to be implemented in the future.

Main Office has an Office SG310 with 100/100 connection

    Hi Barry,  From your signature I can see that you are using an Atom N270 with a 60/60 internet. Are you able to use the full bandwidth?  

    If I use only web, application control, windows ips only, will the SG125 be enough to saturate 20/20 with around 30 users?

    Was hoping that the SG125 would be enough as it has nearly the same throughput as the old UTM220

    No, the IPS limits my HTTP bandwidth to ~17mbps; see my posts at

    Non-http traffic is much faster; at least 40mbps with IPS enabled.

    The CPU in the 125 is probably as fast or faster than the 220, and the 125 has 4GB RAM which, I believe, is better than most or all 220's.

    However, v9 often uses more memory than v8 and some users/resellers here (such as William) do not recommend running it with 4GB with most features enabled.

    I realize the price difference between the 125 and 135 is significant; you'll have to discuss it with your reseller and make an informed decision.

    The 125 will probably be an improvement over the 220, but as future versions add more features, you may find it doesn't have a lot of room for the future.
