Hardware recommendations

I am looking at running the UTM home edition and wanted to get your opinions about the hardware I was considering.
a 2 U server case that takes atx or uatx boards.
An intel haswell 4440S i5 cpu, LGA 1150.
An MSI Z97 atx motherboard. MSI USA Z97 U3 PLUS
16GB ram.
And a Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD.
Want to run all the available options in the UTM home edition. 5-6 devices online simultaneously. 30Mbps roadrunner internet service.
I have read a couple recommendations to stay away from quad core, not sure why yet, still reading other posts.
Thought and recommendations, things I over looked?

That will be more than enough.

I have an older i3, 8GB RAM, 64GB SSD on a thin mini ITX fanless so no moving parts, 70Mb fibre and it doesn't really break a sweat.

Way overkill for what you have listed, IMHO. I would use something like the i3-4150, 8gb ram is PLENTY, and an SSD will not help your performance meaningfully. Just my opinion, of course.

totla overkill..[[:)]]
use a DC haswell celeron at least 2.5ghz 4 gigs of ram and a 250 gig hdd for starters.  Make sure you are using Intel or broadcom nics..[[:)]]

I agree it seems like total over kill but will it work?
Will the hardware be recognized etc?

It will. It'll be like towing a Uhaul trailer with a Semi, but it will.[:D]

Just pick up an Intep dual port NIC on ebay. I just bought a couple for less than $50 each new and you can find them for about $30 used.

I think its better don't use this adapter, there's a well know bug with some Intel adapters reseting/hanging and this one is having that problem!

darrellr need all new for this build, not my spec.
Crisman is there a better intel nic that can be bought new? Can be pci or pcie.

For instance would this be an ok choice?
