Just because I can, I have two Sophos UTM home edition's running in HA (Hot Standby). Both are virtualised (on two different machines) and this has been running great!
So being HA, both VMs have three NICs presented to them via the hypervisor (Hyper-V) as follows:
Nic 1: Internal LAN connected to Physical NIC 1 and using VLAN1 (configured by Hyper-V)
Nic 2: External WAN connected to Physical NIC 2 which is connected to a VDSL modem and dialling PPPOE
Nic 3: HA NIC connected to Physical NIC 1 and using VLAN 102 (configured by Hyper-V)
I now want to add Nic 4 to create a DMZ. Nic 4 would be configured to be connected to Physical NIC 1 and using VLAN 104 (configured by Hyper-V).
To do this, I shutdown the Master and everything failed over to the Slave as expected. With the Master offline, I added a new NIC as detailed above and started it up. I then waited for the two to resync and the Master to take control again and then repeated the process. However, when I go to add the new interface in the Web GUI it's not available to add - it's not even showing in the hardware tab. If I log into the console and do ifconfig -a I can see the interface there.
Have I hit a limit of three interfaces?
