Problems with PPPoE interface

Just finished installing my first sophos UTM and everthing but the PPPoE interface to my ASDL line is working.

I have put the modem into full bridge mode and have tested a PPPoE connection from my laptop via windows 7 and it works fine.

I am using the latest image 9.201-25-1, the logs for the PPPoE service on the UTM suggest that connection times out waiting for a PADO response.

I've done a few checks on the system from the root shell some observations:
- using the ethtool on the interface configured as PPPoE adapter it doesn't seem to list the configuration settings such as full duplex, 100M etc rather it appears not to have picked (not sure how adapters in PPPoE mode should look)
- the adapter works fine when using dhcp or static ip

I am using a avoton board and the utm detects the adapters as avoton gig ethernet adapters.

Anyone have some advice on how to further diagnose the issue, I've looked through the forum and there are some similar issues nothing that I have found so far seems to help.

    Update,

    I bought a new ethernet adapter and it worked straight away.  Seems like the the avoton ethernet adapters have a compatability issue with the PPPoE interface.

    They work fine as a standard ethernet adapter though.
