I am a new user of a Sophos UTM software appliance on custom hardware. Supermicro atom boards work great with this software, no compatibility issues at all! Anyway, I originally installed 9.201-23. However, I just checked the Sophos blog today and noticed there are some updates I have missed. I have not received the Up2Date packages for 9.202 or 9.203. As I understand it, there are some more OpenSSL vulnerabilities that need addressing by these updates. I have spent some time looking through the forums and this seems to be an issue with others as well. But, there are some things I need clarification on that the other posts didn't make clear. My apologies for my questions, but once I become familiar with this process I should be good.
That said, I haven't tried installing manually yet because I want to be better educated about the update process first. I also want to make sure there isn't something wrong with the automated Up2Date process on my machine.
1. Does the software appliance always lag behind the hardware appliance in updates?
2. I am having no issues with Up2Date updating the AV definitions, IPS signatures, etc. The live log and static logs show no indication of downloading a newer firmware version. When I run a manual check of Up2Date packages, I do see activity in the live log, but nothing about finding packages to install (other than signature updates). The Up2Date management page says I am up to date.
3. If they haven't been released yet, does anyone know when the software appliance upgrades will be available?
