External ISP public IPs counted in Licensing?

Not sure if this is the right forum, but I have a question concerning the listing of active IP addresses on the UTM9 appliance. For home edition there is obviously a (very generous) limit in supported IPs. While I am amazed at the rate that I am consuming IPs with mobile devices, home automation, VOIP, etc., I did realize that my IP count went through the roof after adding my cable provider to the UTM appliance. 

I have connected an interface for Time Warner Cable as Ethernet DHCP and it connects to the cable modem receiving the following IP and netmask:  68.203.x.***/19
As a result, I now have a bunch of 68.203.x addresses populating my Active IP addresses table, eating up my usable license count. 

While I understand that the system sees these addresses, should it not only list IP against the license count that it (UTM9) actively protects?

Any clarity would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi, Oliver, and welcome to the User BB!

    My guess would be a misconfiguration.  First, NO public IP should be seen as an "internal" IP protected by the UTM.  Please confirm that you have 'IPv4 Default GW' checked for the External interface definition.  Also, confirm that you have a masquerading rule like 'Internal (Network) -> External'.

    My guess would be a misconfiguration.  First, NO public IP should be seen as an "internal" IP protected by the UTM.  Please confirm that you have 'IPv4 Default GW' checked for the External interface definition.  Also, confirm that you have a masquerading rule like 'Internal (Network) -> External'.

    Thank you for the welcome!

    I guess you may have pointed out the culprit setting. I did not select default GW for that interface, because I also have a DSL connection connected to the UTM, which I use for my phones, mail server and home automation. The Time Warner cable connection is for Netflix, laptops and web browsing, etc. I was under the impression you can only select one default GW, so I created a Policy Route for the Time Warner interface and left the GW setting unselected. I guess that also meant that the UTM sees everything beyond the ISP IP assigned to me as a potential IP to protect?
