Upgrade Appliance from 8.311 to UTM 9

We have an ASG 220 appliance with firmware version 8.311 with 2GB RAM and plenty of available disk space.

the appliance protects our web servers for which we desire a minimum of downtime.

Up2Date shows an option to upgrade to UTM 9.

my questions are:

1) is it safe to upgrade?

2) what is the expected downtime?

3) do I need to backup and restore my configurations or is that now done automatically by Up2Date?

Yes, the license information is stored in the backup. A copy of the license can be retrieved from the MyUTM portal. https://myutm.sophos.com/.
