Possible to convert "Ethernet static" to "Ethernet VLAN"?

Hello , 

Is it possible to convert an "Ethernet static" interface to a "Ethernet VLAN" interface without losing any settings like firewall or filtering rules? Is it possible to convert an interface at all?

Unfortunately I don't have a spare PCI slot to insert an additional NIC and configure it as a VLAN interface so I'm looking for a way to reconfigure my existing NIC config withut losing too much.

    I think this should be possible. HOWEVER, before making such a change, make a config backup and put it Into the root directory of a USB memory stick.  Booting with that inserted in your device will restore the original config.

    In any case, you always should have a non-VLAN interface via which you can login to WebAdmin.

    I did that two years ago on our setup: YES, you can convert an interface from static to vlan without loosing any settings.

    Yes, it worked like a charm. 
    You're right, it's wise to keep a static ethernet interface for troubleshooting reasons.
