unable to get access to internet through utm

hello folks, hoping someone may help me. i have loaded the utm version 9.1 onto a dedicated pc for the purpose of a firewall.the unit has three nic cards.i have one card connected to the router (wan)the second to the pc at present but will be connected to a 24 port switch.
i am unable to get traffic to pass through from my pc through the utm to the net.my nics are showing up with no errors etc. can someone please advise what i maybe missing. i was told i dont need to setup any rules etc from a fresh install that once im hardwired correctly the utm unit should get me to the net and then i can configure it as i need.
this does not seem to be the case for me and am confused with setting packet filteriing and masquerading etc. any advice would be great.

    You need to add a masquerade rule under firewall protection if you have not configured Web Protection or anything else.

    many thanks guys will try this again, i did do some sort attempt to do this but i think i went wrong along the lines and couldnt get it online. will update shortly as im going to try again.

    ok folks, i have setup masq rules and firewall rules and still no traffic out to net. my router is handling the dhcp as i am unable to configure the vodafone router in ireland as they have it locked down, to do with vectoring im told.i can change the router basic settings but thats it.
    i have done the settings whereby the utm was config for dhcp etc and router off and viceversa and still nothing.
    is there something else im missing.
    so just to sum up.
    main pc nic card connected to utm internal   eth1
    router port connected to utm eth2 nic.
    both cards are showing link and state as up
    the only setting i have active at present is the firewall rules all the others are inactive.

    any ideas would be great

    can you ping the router from the firewall?

    Can you resolve DNS from the firewall?

    I suggest you download the administration guide from Unified Threat Management 9.x Administration Guides for your version.
    1. Edit your external interface as screenshot 1. This will give you double NAT but will get you on the internet.

    2. Masquerade internal to external as screenshot2

    3. Create a firewall rule to allow all traffic (only recommended for testing) screenshot 3 

    You should be on the internet.

    Hi Billybob, thanks for the reply, i have the utm setup as you suggest with various different rules and as you have listed i have these already and still no access to net......

    hi folks, well i still have not been able to get onto the net through the utm, can anyone advise do i need to do anything with my router to allow the utm to pass through.im under the impression the the utm works as follows. internal card has all devices on internal network attached to it via switch.
    the ext or wan is then connected to the router so everything on the internal network runs between the wan and internal card for processing and then in/out through the router to the net.my links are up. i have masq rules set and firewall deactivated for the moment to see can i get traffic through but still nothing.

    any thoughts would be helpful please.
