this is why desktop motherboards aren't recommended for UTM duties(or any other networking duties). I would send that board back(if you can) and try another one. otherwise i would disable usb3, and any other things not being used for UTM services. Also disable uefi and goto legacy bios.

actually i had it for fun.
in legacy ,it had more problems than efi, regarding boot options .
in legacy you have only one device to boot from,if you have 2 HDs you need to change settings in BIOS to boot from the desired one
if you want to boot from a usb device you need to enter setup and change priority to USB and exit to save,
but saving is not always correct , you need to do it two or three times.
i tested efi and set a new disk with GPT for the first time.
and all boot options there.
as i said before BIOS is not mature and it is intended for efi.
