Loading driver for installation

Hi,

we're trying to install software UTM on a HP Proliant DL360e Server.
Problem is that it has a B320i RAID controller.
There is no native driver support for linux, so UTM installation won't recognize the controller/array.

Is there a possiblity to load a driver for the installation? Maybe with console mode?

    Hi, if that's a software/driver-based raid like the HP 120 raid, you'll need to put it in AHCI mode (no raid).

    Sophos staff said they are planning to support some soft raids in the future.

    There has been hardware RAID on DL360s since forever - are you sure there's only software RAID?

    Hi Bob, I'm not familiar with the b320 controller, it was a guess.

    The DL360's and DL365's I've worked with have p4xx controllers, which are fully supported by Linux.

    do you have experience with P420i controller?
    Will it work with Sophos UTM?

    Hi, I haven't tried that one.

    I've used the p400's and probably the p410's.

    If it's been supported by the 'cciss' driver for a while, it'd probably work, and if the UTM's driver is out-of-date, you could report it to Sophos, and they'd probably update it soon.

    Barry asked me to chime in here.  With RAID controllers, unless it's a more recent LSI-based SAS/SATA controller (something that typically uses the megaraid-sas driver), all bets are off if it's not in the compatibility list.  Some of the newer HP ones are (just installed a new server for a customer the other day) LSI-Logic, re-branded.  I can verify the onboard controller the OP was talking about is a Fraid (Fake Raid -- colloquially referred to by some acquantances as "FRAUD") -- software-based RAID (typically only supports a basic mirror).  These aren't supported by the UTM (or most anything else not Windows-based) currently.

    Thanks Bruce; I suspected the b320 was fraid... I think all the 'B' series probably are.

    FWIW, the HP distribution of VMWare ESXi 5.5 does have a driver for the b120 fraid; probably has the b320 also.
