CS24-SC Only 1 Interface

Hello Again,

I am trying to install Sophos Home 9.0 on a 1U Dell CS24-SC (SATA model) which has two onboard ethernet ports. Sophos is only detecting one interface on the one "nic" but both are on board, I have used them with other OS' such as ESXI. I don't really want to reinstall ESXI and virtually host Sophos even though this has more than enough horsepower and RAM to do so, I just don't want to mess with virtual right now. Any thoughts?

    Hi,

    1. try UTM 9.1 or the 9.2 beta

    2. do you know the NIC chipset for the one which is not detected?
    can you run 'lspci' on an OS that does detect both NICs?

    I'm in the process of Updating now, I had to upload the Up2Date package manually for 9.107-33, I have not looked for or tried Beta's but if they offer more hardware support than the current stable version i'm not opposed to trying it.

    I have ESXI currently running on slightly different version of the server (has Hardware RAID and SAS drives) otherwise to the best of my knowledge they are exactly the same. ESXI reports

    Intel Corporation 82573V Gigabit Ethernet Controller (Dual Port) and shows both NIC's.

    Hi, updating won't normally help with hardware detection.

    Which ISO did you install from? You wrote '9.0' originally; if that's correct, try re-installing from the 9.1x ISO (or the 9.165 beta).

    You're sure you don't have the DRAC / IPMI bound to the 2nd NIC, right?

    I installed from 9.007-5.1 because I was lazy and didn't want to wait for the extra 60MB to load for the latest and greatest. I have it downloading now, I installed from a  USB stick, I have not had any problems doing so before (so long as I mount the USB to /install after the hardware detection) ....I could mount before and after in case its not detecting everything because its off of a USB, although I did that already when trying to remember how to install from USB and it never found more than one NIC come to think of it.

    *Edit* Also I'm a little ashamed to say I don't know what DRAC/IPMI is...there is another ethernet port separate from the main 2, I couldn't remember if it was for iLO or console or something specific to enterprise servers but I was pretty confident it could not be used as a normal NIC, does that answer your question?

    Hi,

    iLO is HP's name... IPMI is a generic name, and DRAC is a name Dell sometimes uses...

    Anyways, some systems let you change or share the IPMI port with another port, but since it has it's own port, that is probably not the problem.

    USB installation should be fine.

    If 9.1 doesn't work, download the beta. If that doesn't work, post in the beta forum with a copy of the install.zip (can be saved to USB at the end of the install processs).

    9.107-33 did not recognize multiple NIC's on my board either. I've never had to download the Beta before for install, can someone show me where I can find that so I can try it next?

    Thank's for spoonfeeding me, I really do appreciate it. I felt really lazy asking instead of looking as I was sure the information existed on the forum but I have been putting in 70 hours a week and can barely find time to initialize the downloads let alone everything else I need to do for my personal project.
