HA active/passive issue

Hi,
I'm trying to run Astaro Security Gateway ver 8.311 in HA mode. After setting it up the dashboard confirms that there are two nodes in the cluster, but my slave box would fail to update. Here is the error in the HA log :

Connect (file descriptor 6): node 2 (198.19.250.2)
Request (file descriptor 6): CONNECT 184.72.238.199:443 HTTP/1.0
No proxy for 184.72.238.199
opensock: Could not establish a connection to 184.72.238.199
no entity

It would show this error for the other update servers it tries to connect to as well. Also recently I found out that as soon as my slave connects in HA I would lose internet connection. That coupled with the update error I'm guessing some sort of DNS issue when the slave is connected. I've read the thread on the virtual mac issue, but I'm not running Astaro virtually. Hope you guys can help me get this running.

    Hi, Hunter, and welcome to the User BB!

    Normally, in the HA log, one sees 192.168 IPs where the nodes communicate with each other.  It seems like your Hot-Standby setup is not what will work.  The units must each have the same interfaces connected to the same networks and the sync interfaces must be connected.

    You should do an initial configuration on the Master including that for for Hot-Standby (not Cluster).  Disconnect the Slave from everything and do a Factory Reset, power it down, connect the sync interface to that of the Master and the other interfaces to the same switches as the corresponding interfaces of the Master and power on the Slave.  The Master will take over the Slave automatically and sync to it.  Done.

    Sorry for the confusion didn't mean to use Cluster. I have tried setting up the Hot Standby manually and this morning with the Automatic Configuration. In both ways the dashboard would confirm there is two active nodes. In the HA log with Auto Config it set my first box as master and the secondary as slave. 

    And this morning found out that while I still can access my LAN, I cannot access my internet connection when the slave is connected. Even had to reboot my main to restore access after disconnecting the slave.

    My current setup is FIOS modem to a switch that goes to eth0 port on both boxes. The eth1 port is connected to my LAN switch and the eth3 is setup as the SYNC port.
