Weird IP address counting !

Hi,

I have a UTM V. 9.x software version with a 50IP limit license.
Since a few days the firewall counts the following: 
Number of IP addresses currently licensed: 50
Number of IP addresses currently in use: 261 (exceeds license by 206)

I double checked the my net physically and via nmap there are just about 40 ip adresses active!!
I also tried to reboot the Firewall without success ?

Is this a bug or known issue!?

    Did you perhaps use some scanning tool like nmap or similar that fakes source addresses?

    Do you use IPv6? Do you use DHCP? If yes, what's your lease timeout?

    Hi esmirQ,

    I'm going to second Mario's comment regarding nmap scanning. If you've used nmap/Zenmap, or some other network topology mapping tool like Spiceworks, the UTM will often times see the non-existant IPs and count them.

    261 IP's counted sounds consistent with an nmap scan of a Class C (256 IP) IPv4 subnet. The extra IP's are most likely IPv6 ones seen by the UTM for existing

    FYI, you should be able to see the IP addresses in webadmin.

    If you didn't run a scanner internally, you might want to double-check your proxy and NAT configurations.

    Hi,

    No at all- Ipv6 is disabled, dhcpd lease time is default, I just used nmap to double check the active ips!!
    Proxy and NAT settings are unchanged since about a year....this issue occurs since about a week.
