Problem with USB NIC

I am trying to set up a UTM on a system that only has one built in NIC. The system installs fine and works until I enable the USB NIC. The system identifies the USB device just fine, but as soon as I enable it, the system locks up hard. 

I am running 9.106-17 software and a Cisco-Linksys USB-300M adapter. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks for confirming my thoughts - I figgured it might be a driver issue. This is just a test system so no biggie. I may try a different USB adapter. I don't really want to mod the drivers as changes may be overwritten by software updates. Thanks for your time and help Barry.
