Shuttle DS47 for UTM appliance?

I'm considering buying a Shuttle DS47 to run the UTM software. I have a 80/20mbs vdsl/fftc connection. I'd like to run ids, av, logging, vpn, the whole works if possible.

The DS46 has the following specs :
CPU Family Intel Celeron (Dual Core)
Processor Number 847
CPU Speed 1.1 GHz
Network Card Dual Realtek 8111G
Network Card Data Link Protocol Ethernet
Network Card Speeds 10/100/1000 Mbps
Wireless Network Yes
Wireless LAN IEEE 802.11b/g/n

I've done some searching, looks like nobody has posted about this pc.

Will the UTM work with the nics ?
How much RAM should I buy ?
Approximately what sort of performance can I expect ?

Hi, one more thing about the i5-4670 / 4670k...

The 'k' series are 'unlocked' (for overclocking), but they drop VT-D support (for VM PCI PassThrough), and they cost more.

The 4670 would be better than the 'k' for a server.

I'll go for the S1200KPR if I can find a suitable case.

An update - Finally I've found a vendor that has stocks of DQ77KB. So I've ordered:
1 x Intel DQ77KB
1 x i3-3250
1 x 8GB Crucial DDR3 SODIMM 1600Mhz CL11
1 x Zalman CNP2SX low profile heatsink
1 x Powercool Q6 mini itx case

Should be with me this evening.
Hopefully that'll make a nice spec for the UTM appliance. FTTC VDSL, 73mbs/16mbs.

Sounds good, where did you get the Intel DQ77KB and how much?

I have the s1200kpr but yet to purchase a case, I really wanted the thin mini itx so I could build a fanless system but I may stick to what I have for now.

Don't think the S1200 is thin mini itx though, otherwise you could use the euler case.

Ok thanks, yeah it's not thin just standard mini-itx, I couldn't find that thin mini-itx board anywhere at the time.

Hi Homesafe,

I currently have one Intel DQ77KB board and use an Intel® Core™ i5-3470T Processor (TDP 35W) inside the AKASA Euler case, it performs very well with IPS and AV scanning, usually with 3 users, processor is around 8% load and when Idles the power consumption of all system is around 16 W.

Used this for a USB key install.

Physical building of the MB + heatsink and fan was problematic, although fan was low enough profile, the mounting system lifted the MB up, so I had to get creative with washers to gain enough clearance. The case came with a psu, but I choose to use a Dell laptop 19V psu instead, it is a neater solution.

Fan is relatively quiet, will enable PWM fan control in the bios to allow it to run quieter. It is warm to the touch. I'll get one of those killawatt widgets to measure the power consumption later.

Running 9.107-33, will set it up for PPOE tomorrow, too late to do any more now.
