UTM 110/120 for home use, multiple problems

Hello all, been playing with this device for awhile and have run into a dead end. Had is running out of the box with no license installed with an AP10 and it was working perfectly. Went in to check on the logs and I get a "Your license has expired" message. Create a home license, upload it and click apply, then I get "Cannot use ASG software license on ASG1xx device."

Was going to try and follow the steps from here: https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/astaroorg/f/52/t/28110

Problem is, when I get to the console screen of:
192.168.0.1
login:

Nothing seems to work. Not the admin/password combo that works when I try and login via a web browser.

So, I tried this: Recover access to your Sophos UTM in the event of password loss

When I get to Step 11. my keyboard stops responding. Tried 2 different keyboards and both USB ports and it dies right at that point.

Any recommendations or thoughts to get this unit up and running as a home unit? (FWIW, Manufacture date is July 2012.)

    Hi,

    1. if you never set console/shell passwords, then you should be able to login as 'root' with no password (hit return).

    2. if you have a backup, just re-install from the software ISO and restore the backup (you can put it on the root directory of a USB stick and plug it in during bootup).
    OR
    If you really care about the LCD display and/or the NIC ordering, then don't do this; instead rename /etc/asg, reboot, and try installing the home license again.

    BarryG thank you for your help. I was actually able to reload the "home" version of the software from a USB drive using the instructions in the link above.

    It's booted up and working, although my interfaces seems to be labeled backwards. Eth3 on the box is Eth0 in the WebAdmin. But that I can work through.

    Now, if only I could get my AP10 to connect and be recognized by the UTM all would be well in the world. [:)]

    Regarding interface order -- Linux orders the interfaces in the order it detects them, which, on some UTM appliances, is not the order in which they appear on the front label ... during the install of the "real" appliance ISO, a script detects the model/revision, and reorders the interfaces via UDEV.

    Do a search on UDEV in the forums, you'll find a thread that I posted detailing how to reorder interfaces.
