Hardware Refresh

Hi everyone, 

it's about 3 years I've implemented in our enterprises networks some Astaro asg320rev3 appliances and i'm happy with kind of appliances.

Now, i can profit of Hardware Refresh and change a main cluster with a cluster of utm320 for a small price and i think to use this possibility.

My question is : how i must procede ? 

do a backup on existing appliances
power on new appliance
do a minimum setup (just for connecting and restoring config)
restore the configuration

Restoring the configuration also restore the licenses (i must change the licenses for using on new hardware ?)
wire the 2 utm320 HA port and systems do the remaining setup

Is this correct ?

    Hi, Roberto,

    There are several threads about this.  It's easier than you imagine...

    With all of my customers' new machines that weren't in  HA, we just used Hot-Standby to transfer everything (including logs and reporting) to the new machine, let the new machine sync and then turned off the old machine.

    With a cluster, just shutdown a node, replace it with a new UTM and wait until all nodes are ACTIVE again before replacing the next unit.

    Thanks for your answer, but this way need all utm have same software version (or i'm wrong ?).

    Yes, you don't want the new units to have a higher version than the old ones. I have done that two different ways. Either load the old software onto the new units and upgrade later or temporarily disable intrusion prevention and upgrade the present units to the version on the new units.
