Installation Problem / PC + VM

Hi dears,

When trying to install UTM 9 and UTM 9 Home Edition into a DELL PC or Virtual Machine with the iso files, i got an error message (Attached picture) 

Please Help me to complete installation

    Hi and welcome aboard,
    the DELL PC looks like a flakey drive or drive controller.

    Please provide some details about the DELL.

    What VM are using?
    1/ a real VM using something like ESXi 5.x
    2/. A MS VM in W7

    The error message/fail to install is for a hardware issues.

    The Dell is n5040 : Inspiron 15 | Dell France

    I'm using VMPlayer 5.0.2 Version 

    And i got the same message.

    Also, make sure you're using an asg*.iso and not an ssi*.iso.  The second only works with Sophos hardware appliances.

    Sophos UTM Home Use Firewall

    How exciting!

    Installation followed steps 1-3 as listed below.  I stopped at step 4, as it was telling me to hit "Return," and it would "erase all files from my hard disk."  I decided not to.

    What did I do wrong?

     How Do I Install Sophos UTM?
     -----------------------------------------
     
    1. Download the ISO image found here: UTM Support Downloads
     2. Burn this image onto a CD.
     3. Insert CD and boot the PC you wish to dedicate to Sophos
     UTM from the CD-ROM drive.
     4. Follow the on-screen installation instructions. The
     Webadmin URL will be shown in the final step of
     installation.
     5. Point your browser to the web-based configuration tool
     (WebAdmin).
     6. Follow the wizard to set up a basic configuration.
     7. Upload the attached home use license file under
     Management >> Licensing

    You've done nothing wrong.  This is what is supposed to happen.  the Sophos UTM iso will 'convert' any old PC into a fully functioning SOPHOS UTM, erasing the HHD is a key step to install our operating system and applications.

    As such, if you booted this ISO on your regular PC, and you continue through, you will loose all of your data!

    This is why many use old hardware to build Essential Firewall/Free Home User system for the Sophos UTM or Virtualise it with VirtualBox/VMWare.

    I highly recommend VirtualBox.  It's free, much better than VMWare/VMplayer.
