UTM 9.104 Soft-Released

    Guys, calm down, this is a soft-release and it's the whole purpose of that release-model to catch issues like that. Thanks for trying, we'll sort out that issue for GA rest assured. And rest assured this: if there were code changes for e.g. SSL VPN, QA checks for them.

    And always remember: Only GA releases are destined for mass-rollout.

    Every update same problems, i see nothing from QA dept.
    8 updates and still nothing stable.

    Let me recall: The majority of those listed U2Ds are soft-release versions. Don't install them on mission-critical systems if you have no easy way back to a running system and wait for GA releases. Also please post your problems to support instead of only arguing as that's not helpful in any way.

    Yes, you are right, I don't want to start a discussion about the quality of the updates, that is here not usefull and not professional here in this thread (sorry). Our common target, is to make this UTM successfully!
    And I know the differents of Soft-Release and GA Version, so I hope, that we can help to improve this version. It annoyed me a little, that there continuous error, what means for me additional work and stress. You are in the same business, so you can understand me.

    OK, back to topic and sorry for my outbreak at this late hour [;)]

    While I agree with your initial assessment that soft releases shouldn't be installed on production servers and this thread should be devoted to finding bugs, I would argue that

    1. The release notes for soft releases should at a minimum have a complete list of rpms listed, so you would hopefully know before installation that if the rpm says something about ssl, it may break something ssl related.

    2. Every minor bug fix that has a mantis ID should be mentioned in release notes. Saying "Many under the hood fixes" may help save time writing release notes but makes it harder for the end user to evaluate the importance of a certain release.

    3. I really like the concept of soft releases, but if sophos keeps on treating soft releases as beta releases, the install base would shrink and the whole idea and importance of soft releases would be lost.
