Swap File Excessive

I have one utm 110 with basicguard installed and i have single scan on avira.  that utm is using 13% swap.  I do have one v8 box which is using zero swap.  All of my other machines except that utm are running dual scan..i DO have all of them running 3 or more gigs of ram though.  Ram is the key for UTM especially with v8.5 and above.

Haha, although I just installed 9.103 like 35-45 minutes ago swap dropped to 0%.  Crossing fingers.

Hello Bob, what is the issue with the Sophos Engine? I have all my UTMs (13 appliances across Europe) set to the Sophos Engine.

Tron, there was an issue in V9 that caused excessive swapping.  If you're not seeing httpproxy using lots of swap, then I guess it's fixed or not yet broken in your versions.

My other reason is that the AV in Endpoint is Sophos, and I prefer to have different AV on clients and at the edge.

Here is an updated graph.  Swap has stayed completely down after upgrading to the latest firmware.

I have yet to turn caching back on so hopefully it stays low.  The Sophos tech said the swap I was having was caused by the Web Proxy module, but going to 9.103 should fix it.

Don't be happy too soon . I see your graph and according to eat I see , your swap will start soon to grow and won't stop. Wait a day or 2 and you will see.  
You can see already that it started to grow.

Sorry to bring you bad news but your graph looks really bad.
Also if there was no bug , and there is and it is confirmed by the high level support and dev, over 70% RAM swap will always grow crazy even on normal machines.
You are to high already.
Once again , I am sorry to bring you those news but you will find yourself over 60% swap in few days if you won't reboot or restart the http proxy very frequent to free RAM.
The cause is SNORT , and it was not fixed yet.

The physical memory is averaging 57.55%.  Since the firmware upgrade at like 10PM yesterday and since then the swap hasn't gone over like 3%.

From my experience and I am working very close with the high level support and dev on it for already a month , SWAP will hit in your case.
This is a known bug relegated to SNORT and it was not fixed yet.
I am running clusters of 525 which are very strong machines and they suffer from that.
Monday we are back again on this issue with dev and support .
Before SNORT will be fixed this behavior will occurs in lots of systems as confirmed by the support.
The only solution they can suggest for now was increasing swap partition and playing with snort configuration.
No solution yet, sorry.
